THE BED AND BREAKFAST experience is unique. You get the benefits of living at home with services that rivals the best hotels. If you travel to the biggest cities or the smallest towns, there is a good chance or the smallest town, there is a good chance there is a Bed and Breakfast available to you. Warmth, coziness and good food aren’t the only benefits to staying at a B&B though. Your host can fill you in on local tourist attractions, restaurants, hiking trail and other interesting things to do on your stay.
It is possible for guests to stay more than one night, but in some cases they will be expected to be away from the house during the main part of the day. This arrangement however is generally found to be convenient, for many of the more popular B&Bs are located in beach and mountain areas, such as Hawaii, New England, and Colorado where daytime recreation and tourism activities are popular. One advantage of staying at a B&B is readier access to popular locations "off the beaten path" which may not be convenient to the city center. The B&B arrangement is actually a very old one; before the 20th century, it was quite normal for country travelers to spend the night at a private house rather than an inn, and the custom persists in many parts of the world. The increase seen in the bed and breakfast occupancy comes from all sectors, the domestic market, international travelers seeking unique holiday accommodation and corporate travelers. As a result, more B&B Accommodation, country inns and bed and breakfast hotels are updating their properties to offer luxury furnishings and provide additional services.

This is important because arriving in a new town and looking for a B&B when you are tired, and maybe it is getting dark is quite stressful for many people. Also, in high season the B&B accommodation may be booked up already.. During this initial step, avoiding stress is the most important part of a holiday. Bed and Breakfast accommodation will be listed, but maybe in just a classified style section, and easily missed. But, just because the B&Bs are not listed in big ads, doesn't mean they don't offer easily the best experience to the holidaymaker. B&B owners are most often, local people who usually know and love their local area. They are usually far better mentors when coming to plan your time-out in their town, than a Check Out Clerk in some anonymous chain hotel where most likely they won't have time to speak to you, beyond "Hello" and "Goodbye".
